Adult Residential Living
Whether home means a house, a group residence, or an apartment, Lakemary provides an array of opportunities for adults to live as independently as possible, while receiving the level of support and structure they want and need.
At Lakemary we believe in the potential of the individuals we serve. We also believe in supporting a lifestyle that best fits every person's greatest opportunity for a healthy, independent, happy life.
Recreation and leisure are important components of adult life at Lakemary. An array of opportunities
for all ages and fitness levels are provided year-round including workouts at the local fitness centers, swimming in Lakemary's own outdoor swimming pool, vacations, local outings, and participation in Kansas Special Olympics.
Lakemary's commitment to our adults is strong and enduring. It is our goal to remain a constant partner as individual needs evolve over time and to help all of those we serve achieve the lifestyle they desire. Lakemary considers every individual's support network part of our "Lakemary family". We encourage family participation whenever possible and consider them an integral part of program planning for every individual we serve.

About the Admission Process:
Lakemary provides support to more than 130 adults who live in a variety of settings in Paola and Olathe. We accept adults, age 18 and over, who have a diagnosis of an intellectual/developmental disability prior to age 18 or a diagnosis of other developmental disabiltities prior to age 22. Referrals to Lakemary come from a number of sources including families, community developmental disability organizations (CDDO), and mental health professionals. Kansas has set up each county to have a CDDO which is the point of entry for individuals seeking services. The CDDO assists individuals in accessing state funding through a Medicaid Home and Community Based Services waiver. To qualify for the funding, an individual needs to be a resident of Kansas or have a guardian who is.
