Frieda is in her 14th year as a direct care professional with Lakemary. She has worked with both children and adults, on day shifts, evenings, and is currently on overnights. “You do all kinds of training at Lakemary,” says Frieda, “but nothing prepares your heart for the feelings you have doing this work.”
When asked what is most rewarding about the job, she gave two examples, “Of course, investing in the lives of our individuals but also seeing my whole family involved at Lakemary.”
Lakemary Center is an integral part of Frieda’s life. “When I am at home,” she remarks with a smile on her face,“I miss it.”
As the end of 2016 approaches, we at Lakemary Center reflect on what was an exciting and fulfilling year. In order to experience this kind of success, it takes the generosity, caring spirit, and devotion of countless numbers of people. This includes staff, financial donors, volunteers, family members of our individuals, and the individuals themselves.
Lakemary provides services to over 650 children and adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities in both Miami and Johnson Counties. As a donor, your gift will directly strengthen the lives of those in our care. Please consider being a source of love and support for those who need it by making a contribution today.
